The Show Off 4 exhibition opened last night, with about 200 people attending (I think anyhow there could of been more). The exhibition invited Artists living in the locality of Cockburn to display their works and in turn show the local community, that there are some very talented people living in their own neighbourhood.
There was a lovely opening by an Aboriginal singer, whom I didn't catch the name of, other than "Noel", but he sang an Aboriginal song that then finished by turning into the song "I am Australian". The crowd sang along quietly then applauded loudly at the end. It was quite moving.... :)
Our Mayor then opened the event with little a speech, and the doors were opened. There were 37 artists on show, so there was a large range of works, including fabric pieces, sculptures of wood, wire and pottery. Bec Juniper had some gorgess pieces hanging so did Jon Denaro, with an interesting wood and iron sculpture. (Oh and the most expensive piece was for $35,000!! yikes!) I had three pieces showing:Follow the Raven

Pretty Little Secret

My favorites were by Larry Mitchell and Debbie Walker Tremlett. Although the Photo's I took didn't seem to come out all that great. Debbie does these brilliant miniature paintings of mainly children's faces, that are photo realistic - they look amazing, so perfect and real. Larry Mitchell's does interesting building/landscapes, these ones were of San Fransisco, London and Hong Kong. Jane Martin had some cool images also of fruit in boxes which were quite different. The night was lovely, I did prefer the last venue to this one, but it still was brilliant. The food was lovely and the acoustic guitars that played throughout the night was superb also.
